My new book - Sands of Solace

The story charts a personal journey of healing and starting again in the first book of my novella trilogy, Sands of Solace.

 

I know the loneliness and uncertainty that can follow the end of one chapter and rebuilding a life. The story’s protagonist, Morten, is a successful Danish businessman whose world is upended by a devastating personal loss. After visiting his warehouse in Harwich, he takes an unexpected detour and discovers a secluded beach-hut community on the foreshore of the River Stour on the North Essex Coast, surrounded by salt marshes, mudflats and big skies. There, mischievous Beach Cat Jack adopts him and becomes a lifeline. As Morten falls in love with the estuary, his journey takes him through Harwich, Wrabness, Mistley and Manningtree, featuring familiar local landmarks, shops, pubs, restaurants and cafés.

 

The story draws on my own experiences of rebuilding my life, as well as my love of the Stour Estuary. Sands of Solace is my way of saying thank you to the places and people who helped inspire it, and especially to Jack.
